Interactive Dissections

The interactive dissection requires the student to select a dissection tool and make the appropriate incision. If done correctly, a video plays of the actual step being performed in a lab. Hints are available throughout so a student never becomes trapped at a certain step and unable to proceed. The dissection is scored and reported on screen. A print out of the score can be made, and if an Internet connection is active, the results can be emailed as desired. The steps of the dissection can be printed to assist in performing the digital dissection or for use in an actual lab. The dissection can be run as a non-interactive movie.

Over 100 Video Demonstrations
Over 100 videos demonstrate special features or special views of each animal such as a crayfish carrying eggs, an earthworm "sniffing" with its prostomium, an examination of a perch's fins, a rotating view of a rat fetus and placenta, inflation of a pigs exposed lung, and a morphing movie of a frog's egg turning into an adult frog.

Over 450 High Quality Photographs
Between 75 and 150 large scale high quality photos are available for each animal categorized by system (i.e. Digestive System, etc.). Moving the mouse over the picture will highlight anatomical features and clicking will produce the name in both text and audio. Notes are provided describing the picture and pointing out significant features as well as general notes for each anatomical system.

Randomized Quizzes
Each quiz draws questions randomly from a data bank for each animal. The student can select the number of questions up to 100 to be attempted. Student identification information is collected before the quiz begins. True/false, multiple choice, fill in the blank, text questions are provided as well as multiple choice, and fill in the blank anatomical identification questions using actual photos. At the conclusion of the quiz the results are presented on screen and can be printed or emailed.
